Ohio Anger Management Classes

Ohio anger management classes must cover areas including empathy, self-awareness, communication skills, relaxation techniques, problem-solving tactics, and decision-making in order to meet state requirements. The minimum time needed to complete a course or program is typically 8 hours, though the length of each varies from entity to entity. Additionally, some programs may require completion in 12 hours or more.

In the state of Ohio, a person may be required to enroll in a long anger management class in certain cases which usually last up to 26 weeks,  if they have been convicted of certain charges such as domestic violence, assault and battery, or other violent crimes. An anger management course may also be prescribed for someone who has been determined to be a threat or danger to themselves or others.

Also, a variety of organizations and institutions in the state of Ohio may request that a person take an anger management course. Courts, employers, educational institutions, family members, friends, and any other entity with a vested interest in the person's wellbeing fall under this category. Generally, this demand is typically made when someone engages in actions that are deemed to be harmful to either themselves or people around them, such as violent or aggressive outbursts. What is more, this requirement may be in response to a criminal conviction, employment contract violation, or other allegation of inappropriate behavior. Depending on the circumstances, it could be required as part of a sentence of probation, diversion agreement, parole or mandatory rehabilitation program. It may also be included as a condition of an employee’s return to work after suspension for inappropriate behavior.
